Deligo’s AI self-checkout solution includes built-in shrink reduction features to help minimize revenue loss from product editing or removal. The system works in two levels to flag and manage potential high-risk customer actions during checkout.
Level 1: Red Indicator light for operator awareness
Whenever a customer performs an action that might suggest shrink risk, the kiosk's indicator light turns red. This visual signal alerts nearby staff without interrupting the checkout process.
Triggering actions:
- "What’s this?" misuse: Selecting a lower-value product compared to the top system suggestion*
- Editing a product to reduce its price
- Removing a product from the basket
- Selecting “Ignore product” on the “What’s this?” screen
A product is considered lower-value if it’s:
- At least 0.2 currency units cheaper, or
- 10% lower in price, whichever threshold is met first
These actions alone do not block checkout but raise operator visibility.

Level 2: Operator verification required
If a customer tries to edit or delete a product that triggers Level 1, the kiosk:
- Turns on the red indicator light
- Disables the payment button
- Displays a message: "Please wait for the operator to confirm your basket."
The checkout is paused until an operator manually approves the transaction.
⚠️ Level 2 is only recommended when staff supervision is guaranteed at all times
Operator approval option:
- QR code scan using the kiosk camera
Once verified, payment is re-enabled and the checkout can continue.

Operator QR code
Each operator has a unique QR code that acts as their secure approval method. When scanned by the kiosk, it:
- Confirms the contents of the basket
- Re-enables payment
- Clears the red indicator light
Here's the QR code to use:
